Turkish general election, 1973

The election to the National Assembly in Turkey in 1973 was held on 14 October 1973.

The social democratic Republican People's Party under Bülent Ecevit reached a relative majority of 180 of the 450 seats. The conservative Justice Party came as a surprise only to 156 seats. Süleyman Demirel's Justice Party had been the strongest in the country since 1965. Demirel was considered the favorite of industrialists and landowners, but also the medium-sized and farmers.
