Turkmenistan Tower

The TV Tower Turkmenistan ( Turkmen: Turkmen Istan teleradiology merkezi ) is a 2011 finished, 211 -meter high TV tower in the Turkmen capital Ashgabat. It stands on a 809 meter high hilltop in the Kopet -Dag Mountains southwest and outside the city center.

History

The tower was initiated by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The construction period lasted from 2008 to 2011. In the presence of the President Berdimuhamedov, the television tower was opened on 18 October 2011.

Description

Architecture

The TV Tower stands on a base with trapezoidal, inclined towards the tower wall surfaces. In the substructure of a monumental staircase leads into the interior of the building. The oriental profiled tower shaft rises vertically into the air and spreads apart the turret basket. Up to half the height of the tower shaft that is decorated by an eight-pointed star of Oguz Khan with a total area of 3,240 square meters, which has an entry in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest architectural star sculpture in the world. In the facade of the star, a photovoltaic system is installed, the energy generated is used at night to illuminate the tower. The star shape is taken up by other buildings in Ashgabat. The star makes a connection between the mythological ancestors of the Turkic peoples and the present time.

The design of the tower comes from the Turkish architects Polimeks COE, which already the golden statue of Turkmenbashi, the honorary title of Saparmurat Nyýazows built. In publicly accessible tower is located in the tower basket to 145 meters ( 29th floor ), a revolving restaurant and a VIP lounge. Transmitting devices

In basic house 13 television studios and other transmitting devices are housed. From the tower, four SD, two HD TV channels and two channels DAB and FM radio programs are transmitted.
