Tuti Bridge

The Tuti Bridge is a composite steel suspension bridge for car traffic in Sudan.

It connects Khartoum on the Blue Nile with the eponymous Tuti Island. The driveway on the side of Khartoum is located near the Friendship Hall.

The bridge was commissioned by the Ministry of Public Works of the State of al - Khartoum in order. The planning and design took over the company Dorman Long Technology. For the execution of the company A & A Engineering and Construction was contracted providers entrusted Bauer Foundation Engineering GmbH for the foundations of the company. Construction began in 2004.

In March 2009, the bridge was opened to traffic. The costs amounted to 14.2 million U.S. dollars.

The span of the bridge is 210 meters, and is supported by two steel cables, which are respectively connected to 19 strands having a diameter of 70 mm with the roadway. The support pylons of the two main cables are located on the mainland and the island as a construction in the river due to seasonally strong currents was considered to be too difficult.

Mid-2012, work began on a bridge by Tuti by Bahri, which will be the fourth of its continuous road connection between Khartoum and Bahri in the extension of the Tuti Bridge.
