Tutting–Kößlarn railway

The railway - tutting Kößlarn was a branch line from Tutting (municipality Kirchham ) to Kößlarn in Lower Bavaria.

Formation

This railway line was originally not planned as a result of a longstanding tug- of markets Rotthalmuenster and Kößlarn, both sought a local train from Simbach with her place as the terminus. The State Railways decided that only one line could be built, and the line along the Inn after Rotthalmuenster was more favorable than the assessed against the proposed Kößlarn line that would have led over Wittibreut through hilly area.

Nevertheless Kößlarn and Wittibreut sent on October 27, 1900 a new petition to the Munich -General of the Royal Bavarian State Railways in favor of a railroad built by Kößlarn. General Gustav Ebermayer noted that this entry was not come nearer, but one is prepared to carry out a project Rotthalmuenster - Kößlarn if for 1,000 marks would be paid what happened immediately by Kößlarn.

On 10 August 1904, the law went on the 23.07 km long branch line Simbach - tutting - Rotthalmuenster into force. Kößlarn had provisionally spared. It was not until the Act of June 26, 1908 approved the construction of the 6.23 km long distance remaining after Kößlarn. On October 29, 1910, the railway line from Simbach was opened after Rotthalmuenster, on May 1, 1911, the remaining distance after Kößlarn.

However, a law was decided early on November 2, 1912, to extend the range of tutting from after Pocking, to make the connection between Passau and Simbach. On 1 December 1914, the route - tutting Pocking was put into operation, which at the same time the railway line Simbach had come about at the Inn- Pocking.

Operation

Thus, the portion of tutting after Kößlarn had become the spur track, which was also operated independently. These local railway proved equally as unprofitable as the railway line from Simbach after Pocking. 1921 ran between tutting and Kößlarn three daily passenger train pairs, which managed the 9.8 km long route in 38 minutes. From winter 1953/54, Uerdinger rail buses were additionally used, thereby reducing the travel time was reduced to 22 minutes. Nevertheless, provided the German Federal Railroad on October 2, 1960, the passenger train operation. On January 1, 1970, ended the carriage of goods between Rotthalmuenster and Kößlarn. The January 1, 1996 finally brought the decommissioning of the remaining portion between tutting and Rotthalmuenster. The entire railway is dismantled, on the route of the bicycle route.

In 2007, the former railway plant was exempted 23 General Railway Act of railway operations purposes by the Federal Railway Authority in a proceeding under § and thus abandoned the last railways are binding.
