Türkiye Vagon Sanayi A.Ş.. ( TÜVASAŞ ) is a Turkish corporation that manufactures railway vehicles and their components. Tüvasaş is responsible for the maintenance and renovation of passenger trains of Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Devlet Demiryolları (TCDD ), the state railway company responsible. The company exports to Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bulgaria and Iraq.

History

The Tüvasaş was founded in 1951 as Vagon Tamir Atölyesi, so wagon repair shop and was responsible for the repair of TCDD wagons. In 1961 the company produced in the factory in Adapazarı coaches. From 1976 she presented in cooperation with Alstom also manufactures electric powered commuter trains. In 1985 the company received its present name.

Organization

The company's headquarters is located in Adapazarı. At almost 80,000 m2 85 cars can be built and 600 repaired here per year. Tüvasaş has about 1,200 employees (as of September 2011). Since 2003, İbrahim Ertiryaki is the CEO and Chairman of the Board.

Products

The company manufactures, repairs and overhauls passenger coaches of the local and long distance traffic ( compartment car, saloon cars, sleeping cars ), electric and diesel railcars, and trams, vehicle components and bogies.

Since 2011 builds Tüvasaş the first diesel railcars Turkey. The train is the result of cooperation with Hyundai Rotem.
