Tuzluca

Tuzluca (Armenian Կոգհբ; Russian Когб; Kurdish: Elîdizk; formerly Kulp ) is a town and a district of the province Iğdır in the extreme east of Turkey, on the border with Armenia. The town has 8,993 inhabitants and the county 24 769 inhabitants ( 2008). Tuzluca is located in the west of the province and borders the provinces of Kars and Ağrı. A part of the district forms the border with Armenia. The county makes up about 35 % of the province.

Prior to founding the province Iğdır in 1992 Tuzluca was part of the province of Kars. The current name of the town refers to the large salt deposits (tr: Tuz ) in the area.
