Twillingate Islands

The Twillingate Islands (French Toulinquet ) are a group of islands in the Bay Notre Dame Bay in northeastern Newfoundland. They belong to the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Capital is Twillingate. About dams there is a direct road link with the main island of Newfoundland.

The first detectable Native American occupation of the islands can be set to approximately 3500 years (1500 BC). Only in the 17th century it was colonized by the French and Beothuken on.
