Twinworld

Twin World - Land of Vision is a computer game from Blue Byte, (published by Ubisoft ), which appeared on the Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC, Acorn Archimedes, Amiga and the Atari ST.

General

Twin World is a jump 'n ' run- game set in a fantasy world. The character Ulopa, is a prince and the sole survivor of the royal family Cariken. Ulopa must traverse 23 levels to find the stolen amulet and the villain to contact Maldur opposite.

The 23 levels are available in 5 "worlds" divided, which are characterized by a different design:

  • A "normal" landscape, you can switch between the upper and lower world ( caves )
  • The Forest ( Dark forest )
  • A medieval fortress
  • The swamp
  • And finally the Temple of Maldur

The first four worlds each consisting of 5 levels while Maldurs temple consists of three levels, one of which is the confrontation with Maldur.

The gameplay in Twin World is relatively easy, and comparable with that of other platformers of the 80s and 90s. To complete a level, Ulopa must find a part of the stolen amulet and thus go through the exit door.

Twin World is today known for its graphics, but especially for the brilliant music. This was composed by Haiko Ruttmann.

Worlds and Levels

Twin World consists of five "worlds"

Caves

The first world in the game has no name, but is in general referred to as The Caves, because in this world between the upper and lower world ( caves ) are changed. Inside the caves, there are other tunnels leading to the upper world or to other parts of the world. Within the caves Ulopa can collect diamonds.

Within this world Ulopa is killed when he falls from the rocks ( instead of entering the caves ).

Dark Forest

Dark Forest (the dark forest ) consists of trees that have ten times the size of Ulopa. In contrast to the previous level Ulopa falls back into the lower part of the tree if it falls from the upper part. He will, however, killed at to great heights. To receive bonus points, Ulopa can collect fruits and flowers in this world.

In the Dark Forest, there are two new extras: The Eye ( invulnerability ) and the umbrella (Accident Free Falling from great heights).

Blackthorn

Blackthorn is a fortress with a moat. As in the previous worlds Ulopa can change with the help of doors between the fortress and moat. In Blackthorn Ulopa can also collect diamonds.

The moat is the only water-filled part of the game. Ulopa moves slower in water, although it may continue to jump. In moat different species of fish appear as opponents.

Swamps of Montain

Swamps of Montain ( the swamp ) is a landscape that is very similar to the first world. In this case, however, the case leads from the edge of a platform in the gold mines, which are located below the swamp. In the bottom Ulopa can collect flowers and fruits, in the mines of gold.

Maldurs Temple

Maldurs temple consists of only three levels, where only represent two normal levels, while the third is the confrontation with Maldur is personal.
