Type 65 torpedo

The torpedo type 65 in its version 65-76 Kit (Russian Кит for whale) with a conventional warhead is a standard rifle of Russian submarines against surface units. Primary goals are large warships such as aircraft carriers, which is to discover and attack the torpedo on its system for the detection and tracking of wake flows. In contrast to the usual standard diameter of 533 mm is an enlarged torpedo with 650 mm diameter, which is used in this way only from Russia. The torpedo is a standard feature of modern submarines, whose launch tubes are often provided with Umrüstschienen to still use the older type 53 torpedoes can.

It is believed that the explosion of the fuel of such torpedoes caused the sinking of the Kursk.
