Tyra (Třinec)

Tyra ( German Tyrra ) is a district of the city Třinec in the Czech Republic. It is located seven kilometers south of the center of Třinec and belongs to Okres Frýdek- Místek.

Geography

The mountain village Tyra is located in the northeast of the Moravian- Silesian Beskydy in the valley of the river Tyra. To the west rises the Javorový ( 1031 m), southwest of Ropice ( 1082 m), in the south of Smrčina (1014 m) and Ostry ( 1044 m).

Neighboring towns are Oldrichovice and Podgrúň in the north, and Karpentná Bystřice in the northeast, Hradek in the east, in the southeast Kosariska, Horni Lomná in the south, Morávka the southwest, Řeka in the west and Guty in the northwest.

History

In the 16th century originated in the colonization of Beskidenwälder by Wallachian settlers a number of individual strokes. Tyra was born, as well as the surrounding towns and Kosariska Řeka in the 17th century by the growth of Passeken to Salaschensiedlungen. 1619 Tyra was first listed in the land register. By clearing smaller fields originated in the valley. From 1644 Tyra belonged to katstaer of Oldrichovice. 1757 were grown in Tyra the first potatoes. In addition to the pastoral industry operated the residents and linen weaving. Owner of the village were the counts Praschma in the 18th century.

After the abolition of patrimonial Tyra made ​​from 1850 onwards a municipality in the district of Teschen. In 1890, the village of 82 houses and had 503 inhabitants, of whom 492 were Poles. In 1900, 511 people lived in Tyrra. After the founding of Czechoslovakia, the town belonged to the dispute objects in the Polish - Czechoslovak border war. From 1920, the village belonged to the district Český Těšín. As a result of the Munich Agreement came Tyra 1938 Poland and after the conquest by the German Reich the village belonged from 1939 to 1945 the district of Teschen. After the end of World War II, the place came back to Czechoslovakia. After the dissolution of Okres Český Těšín the place came with the beginning of 1961 to Okres Frýdek- Místek. 1980, the annexation to Třinec. In 1991, the city had 424 inhabitants. In 2001 the village consisted of 129 houses, in which 411 people lived.

Today Tyra is primarily a resort. In the village there is a sawmill. In the village lives a strong Polish minority.
