Ubatuba is a Brazilian city on the southeast coast, in the state of São Paulo, north of Santos. The municipality covers an area of ​​711.3 km ² and is bordered on the north by the state of Rio de Janeiro. The Tropic of Capricorn passes through Ubatuba. The city has 72 857 inhabitants (2003 ).

History

In Ubatuba the first documented peace treaty between the indigenous population and Europeans in South America in 1553 signed, which was however broken immediately afterwards by the Portuguese.
