Úhošť
UHOST ( German Burberg ) is a mountain in Doupov Mountains ( Doupovské hory) in the Czech Republic. Because of its steppe vegetation and the specific geological structure of the mountain in 1974 to the National Nature Reserve ( národní přírodní rezervace ) has been declared.
Location
The UHOST rises on the northeast flank of the Doupov Mountains on the scenic transition to the North Bohemian Basin. To the north at the foot of the mountain on the river Ohře (Eger) is the ancient royal city of Kadan ( Kaaden ), west of the city Klášterec ( Klösterle ). Immediately on the flanks of the mountain are the small towns belonging to the town of Kadan Úhošťany ( Atschau ) Kadaňská Jeseň ( Beggars ), Zásada ( Sosau ) Pokutice ( Pokatitz ) and Brodce ( Prödlas ). Formerly located on the summit plateau settlement UHOST ( Burberg ) is extinguished.
Conservation
The National Nature Reserve UHOST was proclaimed on October 4, 1974, an area of 114.5 hectares. Are protected in the natural forests of the mountain slopes and the forest-steppe and dry grassland communities on the mountain plateau. The care of the reserve is the responsibility of management of the PLA Labské pískovce ( nature reserve Elbe Sandstone Rocks ), headquartered in Decin.
View
The view from the summit of UHOST is very comprehensive. In the north and east of the overlook ranges from Erzgebirge on the North Bohemian basin to the Bohemian Central Mountains. In the west the ridge of mountains Doupov prevent a distant view.
Way to the summit
Best starting point for a visit of the mountain is the town of Kadan. From there, a red-marked trail to the summit.
