Újpesti TE (ice hockey)

Újpesti TE is a Hungarian ice hockey team from Budapest, the 1955 Hockey section of Újpesti Torna Egylet ( German: Újpester Gymnastics Club ), founded and participates in both the international MOL League, as well as in the Hungarian Championship.

History

The Hockey Section was established in 1955 as Bp Dosza SE. The name goes back to György Doja, which was leader of the Hungarian peasant uprising. During the Hungarian uprising, the team changed its name temporarily in Újpesti TE. After less than a year was led in 1957 but the name Újpesti Dózsa SC one, the one kept until 1991. Since then, the club is called again Újpesti TE. Their first national championship titles won Újpest 1958. Was most recently in 1988 a championship be won. With a total of 13 championship titles Újpest will only record champions Ferencvárosi TC ( 25) exceeded. In addition, nine times the club won the Hungarian Ice Hockey Cup ( last 1990).

Stadium

The home games of Újpesti TE will be held in the Megyeri úti jégpálya Arena in Budapest.

Women's team

The women's team of the association called UTE Marilyn and participated in the Hungarian Women's Hockey League, the league title it has now attracted 15 times.
