Ulanhu

Ulanhu (* 1906, † December 8, 1988 in Beijing) was a Mongolian politician of the People's Republic of China.

Ulanhu came from a family Chinese- Mongolian farmers from the left Tumed banner near Hohhot. In 1923 he joined the Communist Party of China in the Socialist Youth League of China and 1925. He studied, among others, from 1925 together with Wang Ruofei, Zhou Enlai, Jiang Jingguo, Deng Xiaoping, Liao Chengzhi and Lin Boqu at the Sun Yat -sen University in Moscow. In 1929 he returned to China and continued his political activity in Inner Mongolia continues. In 1940 Ulanhu to Yan'an. 1947, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region was established and Ulanhu held numerous senior party and government offices until he was deposed at the beginning of the Cultural Revolution. In 1973 Ulanhu was rehabilitated and was among others 1983-1988 successor of Dong Biwu as Deputy President of the People 's Republic of China Li Xiannian.

In 1992, a memorial to Ulanhu ( Wūlánfū jìniànguǎn乌兰夫 纪念馆) was established in Hohhot.
