Ulf Grahn

Ulf Grahn ( born January 17, 1942 in Solna ) is a Swedish composer.

Ulf Ake William Grahn was five years old at the St. Jacobs - boy - choir Eric Ericson. He studied from 1962 to 1966 violin, piano and composition at the Stockholm Musikpedagogiska Institute and from 1966 to 1970 with Hans Eklund at the Royal College of Music Stockholm. In 1972 he went to the United States, where he assistant in the Study of Electronic Music at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC been. In 1973 he founded the Contemporary Music Forum, he served as program director until 1984. 1988 to 1990 he was artistic director and director of the Siljan Festival.

The work of the composer comprises 200 works from all genres of concert music. But Grahn preferred traditional musical craft is also open to new techniques. In his oeuvre, there are two symphonies; Symphony II in 1983 was a commissioned work for the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra.
