Ulf Stenlund

Ulf Stenlund ( born January 21, 1967 in Falun ) is a former Swedish tennis player.

Life

Stenlund both won the 1985 Swedish Junior title and the Swedish national champion. The following year, he became a professional tennis player and was honored by the ATP as the Newcomer of the Year. He won in the same year in Palermo his only individual title on the ATP World Tour. In addition, he stood in the semi-finals of Bordeaux and Stuttgart. In 1987 he was in the semifinals of Bari, Geneva and at the Monte Carlo Masters. He also won in Bari on the side of his compatriot Christer Allgardh his only doubles title. In the following years he was unable to repeat this success and had the dozen accept Erstrundenniederlagen. In the 1990s, he then played on the ATP Challenger Tour and on satellite tournaments. He had his last success in 1993 when he qualified by winning among other things, Leander Paes for the Monte Carlo Masters, and in the bunch Diego Nargiso and Guy Forget struck before he smoothly defeated in the second round in straight sets against Jonas Svensson. Its highest listing in the tennis world ranking he reached in 1987 with position 23 in singles and 229 in doubles.

His best result at a Grand Slam tournament was the second round participation at the French Open in 1986. His best result was a third in a double round appearances at the U.S. Open in the same year.
