Uli Vos

Uli Vos ( born September 2, 1946 in Mönchengladbach ) is a German former hockey player and Olympic champion.

Career

Vos played for Gladbach HTC and has been with this club in 1966 indoor and field hockey champion. 1967 was the title in field hockey are successfully defended.

1966 debuted the midfielder in the German national hockey team. At the Olympic Games in 1968, the team finished in fourth place after the game was lost for the bronze medal against India 1-2. After winning the European Championship in 1970 Vos 1971 took part in the first World Cup in Barcelona and was with the German team fifth. A year later, the Germans were the world champions Pakistan in the final of the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich against. The Germans won on home soil with a goal by Michael Krause 1-0.

In the coming years, the German hockey team has been quite successful. The bronze medal at the World Championship in 1973 was followed by the European Indoor Championship title in 1974 and the Vice European Champion 1974 in field hockey. At the World Cup in 1975, the German team again won bronze. In 1976, the team was again European Indoor champion. Rather disappointing ran the 1976 Olympics, the German team finished only fifth place. In winter 1976/1977 Vos was ousted by new coach Klaus Kleiter from the German national team since Kleiter wanted to start a rebuild for 1980. After 150 international matches, with whom he had Carsten Keller replaced as the most-capped player, ended the international career for Vos.
