The jewelry flies ( Ulidiidae, syn. Otitidae ) are a family of two-winged flies (Diptera ) and belong to the flies ( Brachycera ). They are small to medium in size and usually dyed black. To find the flies are often of flowers or extension.

The larvae of these flies live in manure ( coprophagia ) or under bark.

The best-known species of this family is the metallic - green Physiphora demandata ( from the tribe Ulidiini ) which has a yellow-red head. The animals suck dog droppings in the place it the eggs and can jump.
