Ulrik Neumann

Ulrik Neumann ( born October 23, 1918 in Copenhagen, † June 28, 1994 in Malmö), actually Hans Ulrik Neumann was a Danish guitarist, singer, composer and actor.

Life and work

The guitarist Ulrik Neumann began his career back in the 1930s in a duo with his sister, the singer Gerda Neumann. They occurred mainly in Denmark and Norway during the German occupation in which they tried to circumvent the restrictions imposed appearance for musicians as much as possible. In 1946 he married the Swedish actress Stina Sorbon. In the late 1950s he became a member of the trio Swe - Danes, together with the Danish jazz violinist Svend Asmussen and Swedish singer Alice Babs. This group toured successfully in Europe and the United States. After the dissolution of the trio in 1961, there was still a collaboration with Svend Asmussen duo. Subsequently, he founded together with his daughter Ulla Neumann and his son Mikael Neumann Trio 3 x Neumann. Besides his work as a guitarist Ulrik Neumann recorded a number of records and played as an actor in various films, for which he also wrote the film scores to some extent. One of his best -known compositions include the piece Love Waltz.
