Ãœmit Karan

Ümit Karan ( born October 1, 1976 in Berlin ) is a former Turkish football player.

Career

His career began in Berlin's Moabit, where he played in youth for Minerva 93 Berlin. He then moved over Hertha Zehlendorf Türkiyemspor Berlin. He then agreed with the Turkish first division club Gençlerbirliği Ankara, where he last wore the captain's armband and 2001 Cup winner was. For the season 2001/2002 he joined Galatasaray, where he immediately became Turkish champion. He has the technical expertise and very strong statements.

As Ümit Karan should be borrowed, he decided against the offers from the Bundesliga and signed in time for the back half kick-off in the Turkish Süper Lig with the then newly promoted Ankaraspor. The capital city agreed with Galatasaray on a loan deal until the summer of 2005 with option to buy. After borrowing the purchase option Ankaraspor was not taken and thus he returned to Galatasaray.

In the 2005/2006 season he scored in Dress Galatasaray in 30 official matches - 2184 minutes ( including 25 games in stem formation ) - 18 goals.

In the 2006/2007 season he scored in 39 official matches - 2897 minutes ( including 32 games in stem formation ) - 24 goals.

In the 2007/2008 season, he was again champion Galatasaray, but scored only 11 goals in 30 league games.

For the 2009/2010 season he moved to Eskişehirspor free transfer. Karan finished at the end of the 2010/11 season his active career as a football player. Eskişehirspor then hired him as sports director. In July 2011 he was arrested on suspicion of match-fixing.
