Career
Youth and breakthrough in the Vienna City League
Korkmaz was born the son of Turkish immigrants in Vienna and is both Austrian and Turkish citizens. With the football game he was already in his early youth in Forschneritsch Park in Rudolf -Fuenfhaus in touch. His first club was the SC Wacker Wien. After the dissolution of the club in 1996 Korkmaz joined the age of eleven in the youth of Slovan / HAC, where he went through all junior stations and finally came into the first team of the Oberliga. With its speed, its already good technique and strong dribbling he made the Scouts of the Bundesliga clubs attention.
In the summer of 2005 took coach Andreas Reisinger, the 20 -year-old talent to the amateurs in Rapid Vienna's city league. Despite a break because of a hand fracture, he led the young team with twelve goals this season and 24 templates for titles and for the initial rise in the East Regional. Even during the current season, he received in the spring of 2006 his first pro contract with the Austrian Bundesliga SK Rapid Wien and jumped so within one year equal to four levels of play. In his first and only season with the amateurs voted him the 16 City League coaches, sports journalists of the newspaper crown and the rapporteurs of www.wienerliga.at the best player and best midfielder of the season 2005/06.
Bundesliga time at Rapid
Under George Zellhofer the midfielder in 2006 with a brief appearance against Mattersburg made its debut in the Austrian Bundesliga. For the first time from the beginning he played on September 16, 2006 against FC Wacker Tirol. In the 2006/07 season, he completed 24 of 36 games for Rapid, 19 times of that in the starting lineup. A year later, he was instrumental in bringing that Rapid could secure the 32 championship. Especially his strong performances in the spring helped that he finally made it into the German Bundesliga.
Change in the German Bundesliga
For the 2008/ 09 season Korkmaz signed with Eintracht Frankfurt in the German Bundesliga. He retired the first training a fraction of the metatarsal to and could not participate in the preparation and the first competitive games. After his injury, he celebrated on October 18, his Bundesliga debut in the home match against Bayer 04 Leverkusen. After a battle with Michael Fink in training on 12 November to Korkmaz injured again difficult, the initial diagnosis was again broken metatarsal. On May 9, 2009 in Hanover Korkmaz scored with a header for his first Bundesliga Eintracht Frankfurt. In 37 league games for Eintracht he scored a total of three goals.
On 26 January 2011 announced Eintracht Frankfurt that Korkmaz is loaned out to VfL Bochum to the end of the 2010/11 season. In his second game for Bochum, where he stood for the first time in the starting lineup, he scored in a 2-1 VfL against Rot -Weiss Oberhausen between the temporal equalizer. For the 2011/12 season he returned to the now relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga Eintracht and joined the 2012/13 season for FC Ingolstadt 04
In the spring of 2014 Korkmaz joined in the Turkish Süper Lig on Çaykur Rizespor. He signed a three and a half year contract here and will play with a local player license.
National
After Korkmaz ' strong spring season 2007, he was also an issue for the Austrian national team, but had to cancel several times due to injury. On 27 May 2008 he made his debut in the 1-1 draw against Nigeria eventually. A day later, he was drafted into the squad for the 2008 European Championship. He came in all three games of the Austrians used. After he was thrown back by some injuries again and again, he could not participate in major stages of qualifying for the World Cup 2010. On 19 May 2010 he was at 0-1 against Croatia, after more than a year off, his comeback in the national team.
