United Nations' International Day of Persons with Disabilities

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December each year (also: International Day of Disabled Persons ) is a exclaimed by the United Nations Memorial and action, the keep alive the public awareness of the problems of people with disabilities and the use of is to promote the dignity, rights and welfare of these people.

History

After the United Nations had hailed as the "International Year of Disabled Persons " in 1981, an action plan for the needs of disabled people was developed in December 1982. The years 1983 to 1993 were designated as the ' Decade of Disabled Persons ".

At the end of the decade, the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution 62/ 127, in the December 3 as " International Day of Disabled Persons " (International Day of Disabled Persons ) was proclaimed. It was first celebrated in 1993.

In December 2007, the Memorial was renamed the "International Day of Persons with Disabilities" (International Day of Persons with Disabilities ).
