United Sabah National Organization

The United Sabah National Organization ( USNO ) was a political party in the Malaysian state of Sabah. The party was founded by Tun Mustapha, the third Chief Minister of Sabah. The party was formed after their victory in the elections in 1967, the Sabah State Government. USNO reigned under the leadership of Tun Mustapha to 1975 and then until 1976 under the leadership of Mohamad Said Keruak.

Prior to the establishment of Malaysia on 16 September 1963, the USNO has played a central role in the negotiations for independence from the British colonial government, together with the Tun Fuad Stephens led UPKO (United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Organization).

1975 left Harris Salleh, Secretary General of the USNO party and, together with the UPKO the party BERJAYA. The new party proposed USNO in the elections in Sabah in 1976 and was, until 1985, the State Government. In the elections in 1981, 1985, 1986 and 1990 succeeded USNO anyway, some mandates to win in the Legislative Assembly of Sabah, but never enough to get back to form a government.

1990, USNO allied with Harris ' BERJAYA and formed from this date the branch of the party United Malays National Organisation ( UMNO ), Sabah. Tun Mustapha was the first president of the Sabah UMNO.
