United States Senate Select Committee on Intelligence

The United States Senate Select Committee on Intelligence is a congressional committee of the U.S. Senate, who is with his partner committee in the House of Representatives of the United States, the United States House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence to ensure the supervision of the legislature of the United States Intelligence Community.

The Committee was established in 1975 at the suggestion of the Church Committee, which investigated the activities of the intelligence services. He mainly deals with the annual budget of the intelligence services, which is presented by the U.S. President. It prepares the legislation that allow the various civil and military services, their investments for the next year. This affects the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, Central Intelligence Agency, Defense Intelligence Agency, National Security Agency, National Geospatial -Intelligence Agency, National Reconnaissance Office, as well as those parts of the Department of State, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of the Treasury and Department of Energy, which deal with intelligence work. The Committee advises the Armed Services Committee on issues that have to do with intelligence aspects of U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, and U.S. Marine Corps. The Committee also examined on a regular basis programs and activities of the intelligence services.

In the 113th Congress, Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein from California leads the committee chair.
