Units of transportation measurement

Tonne-kilometers (tkm ) is a measure of the transport performance of goods, the so-called transport capacity. It is measured by the product of the mass to be transported in tonnes (t ) and thereby distance traveled in kilometers (km). In transport, a distinction is offered or available in the form of vehicles carrying capacity ( TKO, tonne kilometers offered) and the actual transport performance ( TKT, tonne kilometers transported).

In passenger transport, the measurement of the traffic performance is usually measured in passenger - kilometers or persons ( pkm ).
