UNIVAC 1100/2200 series

The UNIVAC 1100/2200 series is a 36 -bit computer system which was originally manufactured by Sperry. Today Unisys takes over the support of the systems. The UNIVAC mainframe series was continued as ClearPath IX and ClearPath Dorado today as.

• The UNIVAC 1100 series was produced from 1962 to 1982.
• The Sperry 2200 series was produced from 1982 to 1985.
• The Unisys 2200 series was continued until 1997.
• The Unisys ClearPath series continues to this day.

• Half machine word - two 18-bit fields per word
• Third word - three 12-bit fields per word
• Quarter word - four 9-bit fields per word
• Sixth word - six 6 -bit fields per word

• Single precision 36 - bits: 1 bit value, 8 bit precision, 27 bit mantissa
• Double precision 72 - bits: 1 bit value, 11-bit precision, 60 bit mantissa
