University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland

The University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland ( FHO ) is the union of the four universities in the University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland Eastern Switzerland.

The cantons of Zurich ( exit until September 2014), Schwyz, Glarus, Schaffhausen, Appenzell Innerrhoden, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, St. Gallen, Graubünden and Thurgau and the Principality of Liechtenstein the lead from 1995 onwards evolving Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland. Basis for the development is the agreement on the FHO on 20 September 1999. Central body is the Fachhochschulrat FHO, which is based on the Polytechnics Act the federal government. By decision of 7 March 2008, a director and advisory board was used.

The FHO University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland is definitely recognized as an institution by the Federal Council decision of 2 April 2008. The courses offered at the four universities are located in the areas of technology, information technology, construction, planning, economy, tourism, social work and health.

The FHO University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland consists of

  • FHS St. Gallen University of Applied Sciences (carrier: cantons of St. Gallen, Thurgau, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Appenzell Innerrhoden )
  • University of Applied Sciences Rapperswil (HSR ) (carrier: cantons of St. Gallen, Zurich ( through September 2008), Schwyz, Glarus )
  • University of Applied Sciences HTW Chur ( HTW ) (carrier: Canton of Graubünden)
  • Interstate University of Technology Buchs NTB (carrier: cantons of St. Gallen and Graubünden, and the Principality of Liechtenstein )

Directors

The director takes the lead of the University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland with the strategic objective, together with the governing bodies of universities to develop the operational management of the FHO on.

  • Peter Wieser was the first Managing Director and has since 1995 supported the construction of the FHO as secretary of the working group FHO in the EDK East ( Director of Education Conference Eastern Switzerland ) and influenced it decisively. He stepped on the 31 July, 2009 retirement.
  • Albin Reichlin was elected by the University Council FHO on 16 October 2008 as the first director (using the new statute ) and, since May 1, 2009 in office.
