University of Benin (Nigeria)

The University of Benin in Benin City, Nigeria is one of the largest universities in Nigeria. It was founded in 1970. Currently, about 36,000 students are enrolled.

Founded as the University as Institute of Technology ( Institute of Technology ). In July 1971, she was recognized by the National Commission for Universities in Nigeria as a university. After expansion by some faculties is called the College from April 1972 University of Benin. Since April 1, 1975, she is a university of the state of Edo, most institutions are now located in Ugbowo.

Faculties

Between 1991 and 1994, Benin University experimented with a college system. As of 1994, the organization is majority controlled by faculties. Exceptions are colleges of medicine, dental medicine and pediatric medicine.
