University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Târgu Mureș

The Medical and Pharmaceutical University Târgu Mureş (also: University of Medicine and Pharmacy Târgu Mureş in the Romanian: Universitatea de Medicina şi Farmacie din Târgu -Mureş and Hungarian: Marosvásárhelyi Orvosi és Gyógyszerészeti Egyetem ) is a national multicultural medical university with approximately 3,000 students and 705 scientific employees and is based in the Romanian town of Targu Mures.

History

The building of the Medical and Pharmaceutical University was built between 1906-1907 at the town hall for the military school of Eisenstadt. The Green Forest Brothers won the tender with a project that contained a three three-storey building.

In 1945 the Medical and Pharmaceutical Institute was founded with only Hungarian -language department. It is divided today into three faculties; current Rector of the University 's Leonard Azamfirei.

The university has a Hungarian -language department, their appreciation to a Hungarian faculty is controversial in 2012.
