University of the Basque Country

The Basque Country University (also the University of the Basque Country - Basque Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea; Spanish Universidad del País Vasco ) is a public university in Spain with departments in the Basque cities of Vitoria- Gasteiz, Bilbao, San Sebastián and Eibar. It has around 45,000 students (2009/ 2010).
The University of the Basque Country in Bilbao opened in 1938 as a Basque university. During the 1960s and 1970s, founded the college of their departments at the other locations.
Nearly 50 percent of the 1,300 study subjects are taught in Basque language. Since 2009, Iñaki Goirizelaia Rector of the University.
