The University of the Mediterranean Aix -Marseille II (French: Université de la Mediterranée Aix -Marseille II) is one of three public universities in the Greater Marseilles. Their locations are Aix -en- Provence, Marseille and Gap. It was founded in 1969.

It is named after the Mediterranean, the city of Marseille lies on the coast.

History

The University was established under the reorganization of the French universities by the Loi Faure in 1968 from parts of the University of Aix -Marseille. In 1994, the University at " Universite de la Mediterranee " renamed.

There are three specialist areas of health and medicine ( Secteur Santé ), Natural Sciences ( Secteur Sciences) and technology, people, society ( Secteur Sciences de l'Homme de la Société et des Techniques ).
