Uno Cygnaeus

Uno Cygnaeus (also Cygnaeus, born October 12, 1810 in Tavastehus; † January 2, 1888 in Helsinki ) was a Finnish educator and Regional school.

Cygnaeus considered the "father of the Finnish elementary school ." His idea of ​​the general education system was originally from Germany. Cygnaeus classified music lessons as a very important subject. In his opinion, the repertoire of music teaching should include both secular and spiritual ways. Cygnaeus was also the founder of the factory class ( Sloyd ) in Scandinavia.

His brother Fredrik Cygnaeus was a Swedish-speaking poet.
