History

Between Bavarian down to earth and urbane jazz sound moves the music of the internationally concertante ensemble, which has its home in Unterbiberg. In the center of the ensemble are Franz Josef and Irene Himpsl. Trumpeter Franz Josef Himpsl moved to a classical music degree and first engagements as a professional musician to work and once studied to become secondary school teachers. Wife Irene Himpsl is also originally from classical music. She studied music education with a major in piano (eg Gitti Pirner ) and came by her husband for folk music and the accordion, she also plays the court music. First, no major ambitions played the two Bavarian folk music - for friends, weddings and festivals and above all for themselves

But the Himpsls cultivated the folk music only, among others; also as a jazz trumpeter Franz Himpsl was active. For your own education, he attended a master class in 1992, the Brazilian star trumpeter Claudio Roditi held in Stuttgart. There was a loose connection, which underwent a sequel, as Roditi with Klaus Ignatzek Group in Munich's Jazz Club played a little later pit. On a visit to Unterbiberg Himpsl couple surprised the guests with a Bavarian serenade. Claudio Roditi, who has an affinity for old European musical traditions, was enthusiastic, reached spontaneously to the trumpet and improvised on the game - a crossover idea was born.

But the Bavarian hosts took the enthusiasm of jazz stars, who wanted to make this session a concert in private project, not quite seriously. " On Palm Sunday 1994 ' recalls Franz Himpsl ," came the call from Roditi, who finally made me realize that it was the matter seriously. "

For three days, arose in the following year " Pagliacci ", the first CD of Unterbiberger court music. Only after this shot was taken from the studio with a tour project. Its success was reflected in a further CD production. For the original cast of the ensemble with trumpet, accordion, harp and tuba to the trombonist Erwin Gregg was extended. These came as guests, in turn, Claudio Roditi and Jay Ashby and Hannes Läubin.

For the next CD ( " Vivamus " ), recorded in the studios of the Bavarian Radio, the Brazilian music came into play. There, for the first time played the then eleven and nine year old sons of Himpsls, Xavier (trumpet ) and Louis (French Horn ), with. Since the fourth CD by the Australian trumpeter Andrew McNaughton is part of the ensemble.

With their CD Bavaturka they operate in cooperation with Şeref Dalyanoğlu and other soloists such as Matthias Schriefl and Jay Ashby, the first time a mixture of Bavarian and Turkish folk culture. Franz Himpsl also learned Turkish for this project.

Since November 2013 also their CD for Christmas Project " star over Biburg " is commercially available. Here they deal with Christmas music not only from Bavaria along with vibraphonist Wolfgang Lackerschmid and her old friend Claudio Roditi.
