Claudio Roditi

Claudio Roditi ( born May 28, 1946 in Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian jazz trumpeter and flugelhorn player.

After his studies at the Berklee College of Music from 1970 to 1971, Roditi remained in Boston and played with the group of Alan Dawson. In 1976 he moved to New York City, where he was hired by Charlie Rouse and Herbie Mann. In the 1980s he played with Paquito D' Rivera, who like himself was interested in a synthesis of jazz and Latin. In Europe, he performed regularly in the band of Klaus Ignatzek; but he also played with Gary Bartz, with pianist Buddy Montgomery and Michele Hendricks and Chris Connor. He also excelled in the big bands of Dizzy Gillespie and Jimmy Heath. He also plays in the Unterbiberger court music. 2009/2010 he was to experience in Germany with Tom Rein Brecht and his band Sacred Sounds, with the plate "Ten of a kind" was created.

1995 his "Symphonic Bossa Nova " was nominated for a Grammy.
