Upper Palatinate Tower

The Upper Palatinate Tower is an observation tower on the 946 m high plate, the highest elevation of the stone forest and the northern Oberpfalz district Tirschenreuth.

The first massive observation tower was built in 1971/72 e through the Natural Park Association v. Stone Forest Stone Forest spruce. Because of disrepair it had to be canceled on 1 April 1998. The engineer Ferdinand Lehner from Tirschenreuth got it commissioned to design a new tower and realize.

On 10 September 2000, the new observation tower was inaugurated. It is 35 meters high and was built of larch LVL. The property developer had taken over the city heritage village, the cost amounted to approximately DM 400,000 grants gave the European Union, the Free State of Bavaria, the Tirschenreuth and the surrounding cities and towns. From the viewing platform a distant view to the Fichtelgebirge, the Cheb region, the Stiftland and the Upper Palatinate Forest is possible. To the south, even the nearly 100 km from the towers of the Regensburg Cathedral can be seen on a clear day (Kaiser weather).
