Djuradj Vasic (originally Serbian Ђурађ Васић / Đurađ Vasic; born September 19, 1956 in Stari Lec, Serbia ) is a German football coach and former football player of Serbian origin.

Career

Player

Vasic came to Germany in 1984. Previously, he had played in the Yugoslav second division club FK Novi Sad. For the Yugoslav Olympic selection Vasic played 17 games. He was inducted into the 1984/85 season as a defender of VfR 1910 Buerstadt in the 2nd Bundesliga (24 games, three goals, including two penalties ). After the descent Bürstadts he played in the Oberliga Hessen another seven years for Buerstadt.

Coach

After he finished his playing career at Buerstadt, he was there in 1992 trainer. In 1994 he continued his career as a coach at FC Schweinfurt 05. With FC Schweinfurt 05 he climbed in 1998 by the Bavarian league to the Regionalliga Süd. After finishing 5 and 11 in the years 1999 and 2000 Vasic 2001 rose with the Lower Franconia on to the 2nd Bundesliga. However one rose after just one season again. In early November 2002, he was released in Schweinfurt.

From 2003 to 2006 he was coach of SV contractions in the Regionalliga Süd and led this club four times on top places in the final table ( number 7, 7, 3 and 3). 2004/ 05 was missing only one point for the ascent. In 2005 he extended his contract in labor as a three -year deal with opt-out clause. 15 October 2006 it Eintracht Braunschweig committed as a coach. However Vasic was dismissed after five games, from which he could with his team get no points again on 14 November 2006.

In the 2007 /08 season Vasic was briefly again coach in labor, as his successor Christian Hock did not possess the necessary coaching qualifications. On August 20, 2007, it broke up with immediate effect by Vasic as a coach. The reasons of dealing with his players and his coaching staff have been specified. A month later he complained against the dismissal, which led to a settlement procedure at the German Football Association and then to a court case.

From March 2008, trained Vasic SV Elversberg in the Regionalliga Süd. He took over the team of Brent Goulet. On 6 October 2009, he was replaced due to failure. In July 2011, Vasic took over for a year, the second team of MSV Duisburg. From 1 July 2012, he has worked as sports director at the Association division club SV Wiesbaden, where he signed a three -year contract. In October 2013 he took over in Wiesbaden also as coach.

Vasic is emerging as a representative of a controlled offensive of increased defense and leaves like with two classic " sixes " play in midfield. His focus was in working with young talent, often from the territory of former Yugoslavia, as well as with players who were newly engaged after a career slump and newly motivated by the training at Vasic. He laid emphasis on a tough and disciplined training: often groaned the new additions at SV contractions over the immense workload that Vasic aufbürdete his protégés. Among his role models he counts Valery Lobanovsky.

Others

Vasic is married and has two now grown children (a son, one daughter ). Before his football career he made in the former Yugoslavia trained as a dental technician, practiced this profession but for never, since he was a professional football player early on.
