The Urban & Fischer Verlag was a medical specialist publisher based in Munich and Jena.

Publishing history at a glance

The Urban & Fischer Verlag was founded in January 1999 through the merger of the two publishers Gustav Fischer ( Stuttgart / Jena), and Urban & Schwarzenberg ( Munich), which both belonged to the publishing group Georg von Holtzbrinck. In 1999 Urban & Fischer, the program of Ullsteinhaus Medical Publishing House, which Urban & Fischer became the second largest medical book publisher in the German-speaking countries. End of the 90s, the publisher took over the preparations List of Naturopathy from summer -Verlag, the counterpart to the Red List of natural remedies. 2000 acquired the publishing much of the Physiotherapy program of the health dialogue publisher. 2003 sold the publishing group Holtzbrinck the Urban & Fischer Verlag on the Dutch science publisher Elsevier, which is now the books of the Urban & Fischer Verlag under the brand Elsevier marketed.
