Uridine (U) and a nucleoside consists of the nucleobase uracil and the sugar β -D - ribose.

Uridine is a component of ribonucleic acid ( RNA), where it forms a base pair with adenosine.

In the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA ), however, only the deoxythymidine occurs (see genetic code). As another analogue with deoxyribose there is the deoxyuridine.
