Genesis

John Mayall lived from 1969 to 1971 in Laurel Canyon in California. As his band ( with the exception of Mayall ) consisted only of Americans, he chose a title that should make the cooperation significantly. For him, it was the first time that he worked only with Americans. Especially it should be mentioned in the occupation that he renounced a drummer. The band wanted to create a calm atmosphere and blues move from the standardized, driven by the Schlagzeugmetren Urban blues away, as he was then in particular came from Chicago and dominated the scene.

The use of a violin, a rather untypical for the blues instrument, the album is characterized also made. Worth mentioning is also the enclosed booklet: Mayall there wrote a text about how you can avoid it, without harming the environment; this is a very early example of eco- political engagement of a musician. because he worked at that time a lot with Canned Heat, he had found for such topics in Alan Wilson a partner. The reason for this text is the first song on the sound carrier called Nature's Disappearing ( German: "Nature disappears "). All songs were written by John Mayall, who also designed the design and the pictures of the album.

Album in the Larabee Studios, Los Angeles was recorded on 27 and 28 July 1970. The next two days were spent trying to mix the album and to cut. This work took over John Judnich. At the subsequent American concert tour, the four musicians presented the fruits of their work.
