The (T- ATF 271) USNS Apache is a tug of the United States Navy and is part of the Powhatan class. It is used since 1981 in the U.S. Navy.
History
The ship was laid on March 22, 1979 at the Marinette Marine Shipyard in Marinette, Wisconsin on Kiel. The launch took place on 28 March 1981, after further outfitting the Apache on 23 July 1981, transferred to the Military Sealift Command of the U.S. Navy.
She was assigned to the U.S. Atlantic Fleet and stationed in the Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek, Little Creek, Delaware. Currently, however, the ship is part of the Naval Fleet Auxiliary Force and is used worldwide.
The Apache dragged in the fall of 1982, the Iowa reactivation to New Orleans, where it was prepared at Avondale Shipyards for its new use. In the summer of 2006, the Apache was used off the West African coast.
