The USS Boise ( SSN -764 ) is a nuclear submarine of the United States Navy and is part of the Los Angeles- class. It was named after the city of Boise in Idaho.

History

SSN -764 was commissioned in 1987. In August 1988, the keel of the boat was at Newport News Shipbuilding laid on 23 March 1991, the body of Boise was launched, also was the ship's christening. After the final details and some test drives the submarine was officially put into service in late 1992.

2002 drove the boat with the carrier battle group led by the USS John F. Kennedy (CV -67) and took this part in Operation Enduring Freedom. A year later the Boise was involved in Operation Iraqi Freedom, during the opening phase of the invasion of U.S. forces shot his twelve BGM -109 Tomahawk on land targets in Iraq from the submarine from the Vertical Launching System. The then commander of Boise, Cmdr. James M. Kuzma, it was awarded the Bronze Star.

The end of 2006 moved the Boise for about seven months, where they circled the earth completely and mainly operations in the Pacific and the Indian Ocean conducted. In summer 2008, the submarine left its port for a six month tour in European waters. 2010 repeated the Boise this ride.
