The USS Bremerton (SSN -698 ) is a nuclear submarine of the Los Angeles-class. The boat is named after Bremerton, Washington State. It is the oldest still in service submarine of the United States Navy.

History

The Bremerton in 1972 commissioned and placed in May 1978 at Electric Boat in Kiel. After just over two years in the dry dock and the final finishing performed first followed by sea trials, in March 1981 the submarine was placed in service. Following the Bremerton drove towards the east by the Indian Ocean to the Pacific and reached its home port of Pearl Harbor in October in Hawaii. Later, the Bremerton was moved to San Diego.

1999 Bremerton was involved with the USS David R. Ray (DD -971 ) in the sinking of the off Oregon due to spilled cargo freighter M / V New Carissa. In 2003, the boat, the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard ran to where a new filling of the reactor, combined with an overhaul took place. Mid-2008 moved the Bremerton in the Western Pacific and returned in early 2009 returned to Pearl Harbor. In summer 2010 she participated in the multinational exercise RIMPAC, in April 2011, the submarine began another betting ride in the Western Pacific.
