The USS Henry B. Wilson (DDG -7 ) was a destroyer of the Charles F. Adams - class services in the United States Navy. Named after Admiral Henry Braid Wilson ship served from 1960 to 1989 in the U.S. Navy.

History

The Henry B. Wilson was commissioned in 1957, the keel was laid on February 28, 1958 at the Defoe Shipbuilding Company. After the launch on 22 April 1959, the ship on 17 December 1960, provided by the U.S. Navy in service.

During the Vietnam War, it was several times on the Yankee Station as a "plane guard" used by the operating there aircraft carrier. Even in operations against smugglers off the coast, she participated several times. In 1975, she was part of the quick reaction force that would free the crew of a hijacked U.S. container ship during the Mayaguez incident.

After 29 years of service, the destroyer was placed on 2 October 1989 decommissioned and stricken from the register of ships on 26 January 1990. In 1994, he was initially sold for scrapping. However, this was stopped early in 1999 and again in 2002 the ship acquired by the U.S. Navy, which sank during a training exercise as a target ship in 2003.
