The USS Jefferson City (SSN -759 ) is a nuclear submarine of the United States Navy and is part of the Los Angeles- class. It was named after the city of Jefferson City, Missouri.

History

The contract for the submarine was awarded to Newport News Shipbuilding in 1984. Where the keel was laid in September 1987, the construction lasted almost three years. After the launch on 17 August 1990, the final finish followed at the pier and sea trials, on 29 February 1992, Jefferson City was officially put into service.

1996 Jefferson City was involved in the Tomahawk raids as part of Operation Desert Strike on targets in Iraq. 2003 followed by an extended overhaul and modernization phase in the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. In September 2007, the submarine moved into the western Pacific in March 2008 and returned back to San Diego. The next trips in the same waters began in October 2009 and October 2011.
