The USS Louisiana (SSBN-743) is a nuclear submarine of the United States Navy and is part of the Ohio - class. As Ship Submersible Ballistic Nuclear ( SSBN ) carry 24 intercontinental ballistic missiles.
History
The Louisiana was approved in 1990 as the last boat of her class and placed in October 1992 at Kiel. Shipyard was the Group General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton belonging, Connecticut. The construction lasted until July 1996, when SSBN -743 was launched and was named after the U.S. state of Louisiana. The official commissioning ceremony took place in September 1997.
The boat was stationed in Kings Bay, Georgia, in 2005 but moved to Washington and thus in the Pacific.
