Utva Aero 3

The Utva Aero 3 was a piston engine powered aircraft for the beginners training of Yugoslav manufacturer Utva to replace the Ikarus Aero 2. A total of 110 pieces for the Yugoslav Air Force were built and were from 1958 to the mid- 1970s in use. In the following years they were replaced by the Utva 75.

Construction and history

The Aero 3 was developed as a novice trainer aircraft, with teachers and students sat under a two-piece canopy succession. It had a non- retractable spur wheel landing gear and was powered by a Lycoming O -435 piston engine. The Aero 3 was also equipped for night and instrument flying training and was introduced in 1956 with the Yugoslav Air Force.

Today some more Aero 3 are flown at air sports clubs.
