Utva Aviation Industry

Utva ( serb. Фабрика авиона Утва / Fabrika Aviona Utva ) is a manufacturer of aircraft based in Pancevo, Serbia. The series comprised primarily training aircraft and agricultural aircraft.

History

The company was founded in 1937 in Zemun as a glider company Utva - Zemun. It also produced their own gliders. 1939 the name was changed in Utva - Beograd. 1941, the company moved to Pančevo and again changed its name, this time in Utva - Pančevo.

After the Second World War, the company was renewed. In addition to gliders began in 1946 the production of the first training aircraft, the Utva troika. It was followed by further training aircraft like the Utva 213 and Utva Aero 3, or agricultural aircraft such as the Utva 60 and Utva 65 with the school and sports aircraft Utva 75, the company had a great success, the model has become the most popular sports and touring aircraft in the former Yugoslavia and was, among other things also exported to the United States.

With the disintegration of Yugoslavia, parts of the production of the aircraft manufacturer Soko Mostar were transferred to Utva, including those of the military trainer aircraft Super Galeb and Lasta ( Soko was license buyers of these models, the developer, the Yugoslav Aeronautical Institute ). In the 1990s, the G4M Super Galeb G4 Super Galeb of the Erdkampfversion appeared, but did not due to lack of financial resources into production. The latest model of Utva is the Lasta 3, from which the company hopes an economic boom.

In addition to aircraft Utva also produced UAVs such as the mini UAV Gavran and medium UAV.
