Uwe Jacobsen

Uwe Jacobsen ( born September 22, 1940 in Aschersleben ) is a former swimmer from the Federal Republic of Germany, as a member of the all-German team won an Olympic silver medal in 1964.

Uwe Jacobsen started for DSW 1912 Darmstadt, where he trained together with Hans -Joachim Klein. Jacobsen won the 1960, 1961 and 1963 the German championship on the 100-meter freestyle distance. He failed to qualify for both 1960 and 1964 for the all-German team. In Rome in 1960 he resigned from both the individual as well as the medley relay in the flow. In Tokyo in 1964, he finished the 100 meters freestyle in 56.1 seconds in eighth place after he takes 54.8 seconds in the semifinals. With the 4 x 100 meter freestyle relay in the cast Horst Löffler from Ulm, Frank Wiegand from Rostock, Uwe Jacobsen and Hans -Joachim Klein, he won with four seconds behind the squadron of the United States the silver medal. This season was one of the few teams in the all-German team in the East and West German athletes competed together.
