Václav Mašek

Vaclav Masek ( born March 21, 1941 in Prague ) is a former Czechoslovak football player. It was founded in 1962 with the Czechoslovak national runner-up.

Playing career

Masek began playing football at the Prague club ABC Braník, at age 16, he moved to Sparta Prague. In the season 1958/59, the left winger made ​​his debut in the first team and was henceforth a fixed size in the game of top Czech clubs.

Masek was appointed in 1960 with only 19 years in the Czechoslovak national team, of which he was a squad at the World Cup 1962 in Chile. There in the group match against Mexico, he succeeded in a goal after 15 seconds, a record that was only 40 years later surpassed by Hakan Şükür, who scored after only 11 seconds in the match for third place. Overall Masek graduated to 1965 16 caps for Czechoslovakia, where he scored five goals.

1965 and 1972 he won with his team the Czechoslovak Championship, 1964 and 1972, the national cup competition. In Europe Cup Winners' Cup 1972/73 with Sparta, he managed to move into the semi-finals. In the same competition, he was in season 1964/65 with the six -goal leading scorer.

In the 1970/71 season he played for Dukla Prague, and then returned to Sparta Prague. With 33 years Masek moved to his youth club Braník ABC, for which he still played until 1978. Then Masek worked there as a coach.

In 309 first division matches Masek scored 121 goals. All games are considered, he is the top scorer Sparta Prague of all time in 677 matches he met 406 times in the opponent's goal.

From 1990 to 1991 he was president of AC Sparta Prague.
