Václav Pšenička

Václav Pšenička senior (* October 26, 1906, † April 25, 1961 in Prague ) was a Czechoslovak weight lifters.

Career

Václav Pšenička grew up in Prague and came as a young strong man with weight-lifting. Soon he was the best Czechoslovak weight lifters in the light heavyweight and was sent to the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam. He still did not win any medal. But in 1932 and 1936, he won a silver medal at the Olympic Games. His great adversary from 1934 was the German champion Josef Manger, he could defeat only once: at the European Championships in 1934, when Manger was still a beginner at age 20. After the Second World War, he took great delight was to his son Václav Pšenička junior, the multiple Czechoslovak weightlifting champion and one of the best European Weightlifting his weight class was.
